Futuristic architects of the past
You cannot visit Los Angeles without taking some time to enjoy the interesting and innovative architecture of some of its buildings. Go to http://www.findarticles.com/cf_lamg/m1346/n1_v43/20179538/p1/article.jhtml and read through the first paragraph of the article “Back to the future (houses by architect John Lautner)”. One of the rooms in a house designed by Lautner is being described as: “The scene is something out of James Bond – with a little Flintstones thrown in ...”. What do you think are characteristics of this room? Why do you think the author has used these two well-known film and television productions to describe the house in Los Angeles? (Focus on the contrasts between the two productions)
