The simple past and the past participle follow the same general rules of formation:
General rule = verb + ED (to impress, to look, to recommend, to email)
If the verb ends in -e = verb + D (to like, to locate, to indicate)
Some irregular verbs: to lay = laid; to find = found; to get = got
