Put quite simply, we're an organisation that stands for the use of clear language.
So, what is plain English then?
We define plain English as the kind of language that everyone can easily understand
in all situations.
Can you say what the advantages of that may be?
Yes, the communication process is more efficient when using plain English.
It is also friendlier.
What do you mean by friendlier?
People are frequently confused by official documents. We would like organisations
to make their leaflets, contracts, announcements and so on, more 'user' friendly by
using clear language.
What gives your organisation the right to say whether something is in plain English?
We have a thorough testing system. Ordinary members of the public must first be
able to understand a document before we approve it. It's as simple as that!
